Succulents store water in their leaves or stems, so they are usually chosen for bright indoor shelves, sunny windows, protected balconies and terrace planters. They are not all cacti, and different succulent groups vary in how much sun, heat and rain exposure they can handle.
Drainage is the key care factor. In many Indian homes, succulents struggle more from overwatering and compact wet soil than from short dry periods. During monsoon or in very humid regions, some varieties need protection from repeated rain and slow-drying pots. Use the individual plant notes to compare light and watering needs, then request current nursery availability and suitable plant size.
